Conference
update
The
Methodist Council has agreed that the Conference cannot meet as
planned in Telford in June and will look at ways for the
Conference to meet in an alternative form. The officers of the
Conference working together will now look at ways of bringing the
proposals for this alternative meeting to an additional meeting
of the Council.
The restrictions on groups meeting has meant that our Synod will
not be able to meet. Thus, full consideration to God in Love Unites
Us, cannot be given. The Council therefore also
agreed that the debate and voting on the provisional resolutions
will be deferred until the 2021 Conference. This also means that
any other business (eg memorials) relating to those resolutions
will not be considered this year. If you have some prepared send
them to me; or leave them till next year.
Please note that the conference office will be requesting the
pieces of information which enable them to produce the Conference
Agenda, which is being prepared in the usual way and to the usual
timescales.
Please find the
latest advice from the Methodist Church regarding services and
hirings can be found here:

District
Children's Support Fund
As you
are aware we have had to close the District Children’s Holiday
Fund. The good news is there is still a substantial amount of
money left in the Holiday Account which needs to be used. It has
been agreed by The Resourcing Missions Committee that this money
is “ringfenced” for Churches in the District to apply to help
with costs in running projects benefiting disadvantaged children.
The maximum amount of any claim is £500 and a Church can apply at
any time using the attached form
and send it electronically to Tim Lorimer who will process your
application and give a decision within six weeks of receipt. The
application will need the support of the hosting Church and
circuit superintendent. Church’s cannot apply for retrospective funding.
We would hope that individuals and groups that have contributed
in the past to the Holiday Fund will still wish to do so knowing
that there money will still be used for Children’s Projects.
