Christian
Magician Workshop and show
I am organising two events at Penkridge Methodist Church -
the first is for anyone who would like to learn how to perform
some magic as a tool for evangelism - no previous knowledge or
skill are needed. Professional Christian Magicians are
offering to run a workshop for ministers, lay workers, preachers,
evangelists, youth/familiy workers etc to learn how to
incorporate basic tricks and illusions into their talks and
sermons to make them truly memorable. It takes place on
Saturday 23rd October at 1.30pm at Penkridge Methodist Church.
There is a cost of £25 but this does include an evening
meal, materials to take away after the workshop and an full
evening performance.
For further details and booking, please use this link
(tickets must be booked in advance to ensure we have sufficient
resources available)

Altar
Rail available
I am attaching a photograph of a piece of altar rail which was
needed in our previous church (which is now the church hall), but
is excess to requirements in our current church which is not as
wide as the hall.
We were wondering if any of the churches in the District could
make use of this piece of altar rail? It is 7 feet in
length and is obviously free-standing and a shame not to be of
use to some church. I have contacted all the churches in
Cannock Chase Circuit, but no takers.
If any of the District churches think they could make use of it,
please contact June Scrimgeour on 01543 423517 and I will arrange
for them to have a look if this is necessary. It is quite
heavy and we wouldn't be able to deliver.

Schools
and Community Outreach Worker Vacancy - readvertised
Stafford Circuit - Berkswich Methodist Church -
Schools and Community Outreach Worker Opportunity
Berkswich Methodist Church wish to appoint a part time Schools
and Community Outreach Worker
* 20hrs per week
* £11.25 per hour
* Application deadline 19th November 2021
Berkswich Methodist Church has employed a Schools Worker over the
past 12 years and we wish to maintain and build on this work,
developing the relationship between the six primary schools with
whom we work and the church.
We are also looking to find new ways of taking church out
of the building and into the community so that people may
understand what a relationship with God can mean in their lives
and come to faith.
The Schools and Community Outreach worker will work in the
schools delivering assemblies, lunchtime Bible clubs, celebrating
the Christian festivals and being a Christian presence for both
staff and pupils. The outreach work in the community looks to
find new ways of being church in the community and having soft
conversations about faith with those unsure about stepping over
the threshold of the church building.
If you would like to have an informal chat about the position do
call Jean Harrison, Berkswich lay pastor on 01785 661263 and to
request an application form.

within the Learning Network team since Jon’s departure and give
you an opportunity to share your thoughts and good news stories.
If you are a paid lay worker and have not yet received an
invitation and would like to attend then please email Jo Yair for

Children's
Support Fund
The above fund has been available to access for about 18 months

new activities they might be able to run and this fund may be
able to help. There is a ceiling of £500 and applications need to
made on the attached form
and emailed to Tim Lorimer @ lorimertim@yahoo.co.uk.
Some examples of activities we have supported are:
Kingswinford. Purchase of Lego sets for their Full of Spirits
Project
St John's Bloxwich. Support for School meals
Fallings Park, Stationary bags to support prayer spaces for
Children
Stafford. Tablets to help in school work
Beckminster. Christingle Bags

Hope
in Israel Palestine
Revd.
John Howard will be visiting the District on Tuesday 12th
October to share his experiences of his time working in
Jerusalem. He has written a book which will be available on
the evening and says, “I hope that the book sets out the grounds
for hope for a solution to the conflict that has gone on for so
long. The first thing that those who look for peace in the land
called Holy need, is the belief that a just peace is
attainable.”
The meeting will be chaired by Revd Rachel Parkinson and will be
@ 7.30 pm at Beckminster Methodist Church, Birches Barn Road,
Wolverhampton, WV2 4PX.
Please put the date in your diary!
