Advent and Christmas Grants: Good news for all
people
This year the District is again supporting the Connexional
Advent
& Christmas Campaign by making small grants available of up
to £150. This is for projects which seek to demonstrate to
our communities that the birth of Jesus is Good News for All
People. Your Superintendent’s counter-signature
will be needed, but anyone can apply on behalf of their church or
Circuit. Please complete this form
as fully as possible and email to Richard Lockley via admin@wsmethodist.org.uk
Applications will be considered by the District Chair and the
Ministry & Missions Co-ordinator. Most Circuits will be
have a maximum of 3 grants awarded, with more negotiated for very
large Circuits (eg Shrophshire & Marches)
To build on previous years, Rachel and Jo will be particularly
looking for projects which:
- not only give
gifts away, but seek to encourage community engagement and
participation
- are conscious of
the need to be environmentally friendly in their
implementation

DAF funds annual monitoring forms
As part
of the process of receiving a DAF Grant, and ensuring the committee
are good stewards of the resources given, an annual monitoring
report is required. Unfortunately, a number of ongoing
projects have not been fulfilling this feedback loop which puts
the committee in a difficult situation in terms of approving ongoing
transfer of substantial sums of money. The committee has
therefore requested that an annual reminder regarding the
completion of annual monitoring forms be issued in early May for
submission to the June meeting of the District Resourcing Mission
Committee. Continued receipts of agreed funds will be
dependent upon provision of this annual monitoring report.
Many thanks & blessings
Rev
Helen Croft

Grants Officer

Schools
and Community Outreach Worker Vacancy - readvertised
Stafford Circuit - Berkswich Methodist Church -
Schools and Community Outreach Worker Opportunity
Berkswich Methodist Church wish to appoint a part time Schools
and Community Outreach Worker
* 20hrs per week
* £11.25 per hour
* Application deadline 19th November 2021
Berkswich Methodist Church has employed a Schools Worker over the
past 12 years and we wish to maintain and build on this work,
developing the relationship between the six primary schools with
whom we work and the church.
We are also looking to find new ways of taking church out
of the building and into the community so that people may
understand what a relationship with God can mean in their lives
and come to faith.
The Schools and Community Outreach worker will work in the
schools delivering assemblies, lunchtime Bible clubs, celebrating
the Christian festivals and being a Christian presence for both
staff and pupils. The outreach work in the community looks to
find new ways of being church in the community and having soft
conversations about faith with those unsure about stepping over
the threshold of the church building.
If you would like to have an informal chat about the position do
call Jean Harrison, Berkswich lay pastor on 01785 661263 and to
request an application form.

Children's
Support Fund
The above fund has been available to access for about 18 months
now and I would encourage more applicants to support the young
and disadvantaged children from our District. As we are now
coming out of the pandemic I am sure Churches are looking at what
new activities they might be able to run and this fund may be
able to help. There is a ceiling of £500 and applications need to
made on the attached form
and emailed to Tim Lorimer @ lorimertim@yahoo.co.uk.
Some examples of activities we have supported are:
Kingswinford. Purchase of Lego sets for their Full of Spirits
Project
St John's Bloxwich. Support for School meals
Fallings Park, Stationary bags to support prayer spaces for
Children
Stafford. Tablets to help in school work
Beckminster. Christingle Bags
Aldridge. Support for their ECO warriors project
Bourne Methodists. Support for newly formed Dads and
Children's Saturday club
Cole Street.. Working with Safer Families Charity providing
activities for Children
Should anyone want more details of these projects please send me
an email.
