Singing

Do any
churches have copies of Singing the Faith CD's that they no
longer use, as one Methodist church in the District is losing its

Journey
of the Magi - Springs Dance Company
Share
the joy and wonder of Christmas with your local community through
this fast-paced, brilliantly-witty yet poignant performance.
Springs is taking bookings from churches for performances between
November 22nd and December 22nd 2024.
http://springsdancecompany.org.uk/productions/journey-of-the-magi
Watch a clip on Youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qIQmZj6hDoE
Journey of the Magi is a much-loved, family-friendly, festive
frolic with a profound message for your church to host.
The show offers a contemporary comparison between the journey the
wise men took 2000 years ago and our own preparations in the run
up to Christmas today. With sparkle, a soundtrack to keep toes
tapping and awe-inspiring dance, Journey of the Magi delights
audiences of all ages. Relatable characters help viewers to
be inspired in their own “journey” to Christmas Day and can help
them think about who Christ is for them.
“Forget The Nutcracker, Springs Dance Company’s Journey of the
Magi is the best Christmas show I have ever seen! I went along to
see it one dark, wet and dismal night in Birmingham and I came
out having been touched, amused and moved to tears. Journey of
the Magi looks beyond the tinsel and trappings and reveals the
real meaning of Christmas.” David Bintley CBE, Former Artistic
Director, Birmingham Royal Ballet
The performance lasts approximately 90 minutes, plus there is a
20 minute interval, which provides the perfect time for festive
mince pies! It is performed to the highest standard by a company
of four world class professional dancers.
All we need for the performance is a clear flat space of around
7m x 7m, on which we lay our dance floor. Springs provides the
lighting, sound equipment and set and needs 6 hours in the space
to set up for the show before the performance start time.
Journey of the Magi is enjoyed by children and adults alike, and
can be accompanied by a workshop or series of workshops in
theatre, church, school or community settings.
The fees for Journey of the Magi are: • For a weekend performance
(Friday—Sunday): £1250 • For Monday or Tuesday: £1050 • For
Wednesday or Thursday: £1150 Plus a donation towards the travel
costs. Accommodation with local hosts may be requested.
Many venues cover their costs by charging between £6 and £12 for
tickets. For more information and to book for Advent 2024 contact
our office on 07775 628442 or email: touring@springsdancecompany.org.uk.
“The show was wonderful and it was such a thrill to have the hall
buzzing – everyone was captivated.” Sue, Central Hall Methodist
Church, Walsall

Local
Preacher Training at Englesea Brook
Dear
friends,
This is a first for Englesea Brook! We are offering some training
for Local Preachers, or Local Preachers in training. It will
include a unique opportunity to explore our vast archives, to
find the inspiring stories that still speak to us today, as well as
tips from experienced storytellers and preachers of ways to use
stories in preaching. The District is kindly supporting this new
venture, so full bursaries are available.
I would very grateful if you could advertise this to local
preachers in your church/circuit. Spaces are limited…. Most of
you have seen our small space to feed people – but hopefully that
will add to the fun of the day!
Thanks and blessings

Eco
Community launch
With the
support of the Action for Hope; Justice Seeking Church;
Evangelism & Growth; and the Climate Change Priority
Collaboration Group, we are launching an Eco Community (Community
of Practice). We hope this will offer the support and
signposting needed to encourage individuals and churches to be
more eco-friendly. It is a minefield out there; how do
we know what’s greenwash and what’s really green? How
can a church work towards net zero or ecochurch when money is
tight? How can we worship alongside God’s blue and
green world? How do we become a Justice Seeking Church
for all things,
not just for humans?
How bamboozling it can be! So it would be great if you
could share the news with your District and let interested
parties know (church/circuit stewards, justice group leaders
etc…). We hope this will be a space where people can
hear from guest speakers, and exchange ideas, resources, and
enthusiasm.
The dates of the first three Eco Community gatherings are 12
November, 10 February and 13 May, all at 7pm. The joining
link is here.

Wolverhampton
Fair Traid
Wolverhampton
Fair Traid has moved but not far! We are now sharing premises
with Shop in the Square, opposite our former home in Victoria
Arcade, Mander Centre, due to the redevelopment of part of the
ground floor of the Mander Centre. This will be occupied by
Superbowl next spring. Under the energetic leadership of
our newly appointed Chair, Doctor Isabel Gillis, we achieved the
move in less than a month and are very happy in our new home,
working alongside designers. We really are part of a one-stop
ethical gift shop now!
