Could
You Help? Leaving a Legacy of Peace
.
As conflicts rage and international tensions rise, the final
Synod of the Wolverhampton & Shrewsbury District will explore
how we may become ambassadors for peace in the name of Jesus.
In preparation we invite everyone - as individuals or groups - to
create an image that communicates something about peace
……..finding it, promoting it, campaigning for it, or lamenting
its loss.
You may want to create an artwork or take a photo. You can
send us a few words but your submission will be displayed as a
7”x5” photo so nothing too wordy please.
Our District has a proud history of involvement in peace and
justice issues - help us to celebrate it! After Synod, our
“Pieces of Peace” will be displayed at the Englesea Brook Chapel
and Museum.
Submissions should be in landscape mode (7”x5”) and emailed to
the District Office as a photo (jpeg) file by 5th May.
Please also send in any words you may want displayed on the
image, together with the name(s) of the creator and the church /
group they belong to. Thank you.

News and upcoming events
Paying the Price campaign launched
Children across the UK are paying the price of
poverty but we are campaigning to change that. The
government has promised to lift children out of
poverty with a new plan that it's publishing
soon. Change is possible - but it will
require real investment and a commitment from the
government to do what's right.
Please join our campaign. We've
only got a short time to get our message across to
government, before it publishes its plan. By taking
action today, you can help ensure more children's
lives aren't defined by poverty.
Please sign our open letter
here and share it with your districts.
Celebrate Action for Children Sunday
We're looking forward to celebrating Action for
Children Sunday with you on the second Sunday in
July. But you can hold a special worship service
for Action for Children whenever you like.
The Action for Children Sunday newsletter and
worship booklet will be available on our
website in early April. Just visit: actionforchildren.uk/faithFR
and scroll to 'Action for Children Sunday'. The
worship material includes Bible readings, hymns and
real-life stories of how church donations help
children.

Intercessory
Prayer Event

How do we
carefully lead congregations in praying for others and the World?
Come along
to explore what it is we think we are doing when we invite people
to pray for others.
How do we
avoid making intercessory prayer only about the latest crisis?
Can intercessions
challenge?
How might
we use images and imagery helpfully?
Our
morning will include input from Revd Dr Christine Dutton, officer
in the Ministries, Vocations and Worship Team, and the
opportunity in workshops to write and create your own prayers. (Bring
along a Bible, notebook, laptop or tablet whichever you use to
create prayers for worship).

New
roll-out of District Small Grants Scheme - Suzanna's Table
Could
you host a community meal in your neighbourhood?
In support of the “Soul Food” Connexional campaign for Lent and
Easter, the District is making available small grants of up to
£200 to help churches or Circuits plan a “Suzanna’s table” event
between Easter and Pentecost this year.
Where might you set a table? What will be on the menu?
Who will be on your guest list? And how will you invite
Jesus to be a guest at the table too?
Background resources borrowed from the Yorkshire West District
are here: https://ywmethodist.org.uk/susannas-table/
If you would like to discuss your plans please contact the District
Office and we will be glad to put you in touch with
further help.
Please note that this District will be working to a longer
timetable and have our own grant form. Grants will be
awarded to support a new expression of hospitality rather than
things which are already a regular part of your church’s
programme

MHA
Sunday | Celebrating the Work of MHA
At the heart of this year’s MHA Sunday message is Irene’s
story—a testament to the difference chaplaincy
makes. When Irene moved into an MHA community, she felt lost and
uncertain. But through the compassion and presence of chaplaincy,
she found renewed purpose, belonging, and hope.
This year, we are reflecting on the Parable of the Good Samaritan
(Luke 10:25-37)—a story of seeing, stopping, and
responding with love. It speaks directly to our ministry as
chaplains, reminding us that care is more than words—it is
action, presence, and a willingness to walk alongside those in
need.
MHA Chaplains are happy to come and give a talk/answer
questions/lead a service if helpful.
Do contact me to see if I can be of any help.
Many thanks
